20220320 Cobourg Brighton
Twenty members of the Willow Beach Field Naturalists (WBFN) met at Cobourg Harbour then traveled to Brighton and Presqu'ile Provincial Park looking for waterfowl and other birds. Led by Roger Frost and Elizabeth Kellogg, the outing was successful in finding large numbers of waterfowl. Redhead and Ring-necked Duck were the most common, numbering into the thousands. Diving ducks also included Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, Lesser Scaup and Long-tailed Duck. Other ducks of interest, but in small numbers, included Canvasback, American Wigeon, Northern Pintail and White-winged Scoter. Canada Goose, Mallard and Mute Swan were present as usual. While cloudy skies and occasional sprinkles contributed to some poor photos, it did not dampen the enthusiasm for birding by outing participants. Photos by Don McLeod.
