20211023 Port Hope Birding
Elizabeth Kellogg and Roger Frost led a beginners birding tour of the A.K. Sculthorpe Marsh, Port Hope, on October 23, 2021. After a brief introduction on birding which covered the use of field guides, binoculars and how to view birds, participants walked the trail and identified birds. Bird species ranged from Black-capped Chickadee and Mallard which were close and easy to ID with binoculars to Red-breasted Merganser and Bonaparte's Gull which were out on Lake Ontario. A demonstration of the spotting scope proved its value in identifying these distant birds. (Photos by Don McLeod)
